Affirmations, Acrylic on salvaged industrial tubes with steel bases, size varies. Installation at Conrad/Wilde Gallery in Tucson and Gebert Contemporary in Scottsdale. 2013.

This newest series of 3d artworks employ the polka dot as both pattern and decoration while incorporating “affirmations” as text jargon and a nod to the American obsession with the pursuit of happiness. Taking its cue from its nick name, "Phallic Affirmations" dances in a parade of pleasing peculiarity and subliminal messages across an array of three dimensional totems. Nelson says that the intension behind this new work is to “mean something and mean nothing at all.” As Freud once said, "Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar."
