Wild Bill Bison, 2019

“Wild Bill Bison”Fabricated steel. Sited at the Element Hotel, Superior, CO, 2019.

The sculpture's title gives a nod to Buffalo Bill Cody and his Wild West Show. One of Cody's final wishes was to be buried on Lookout Mountain above Denver.

The Bison is a recurring motif in the arts. As old as the pre-historic cave paintings of Lascaux, France.  This iconic animal symbolizes bravery, kindness, strength, and respect.

This steel plate iteration is a geometric abstraction, referencing the language of modernist sculpture.
